PM Modi congratulates Bindyarani Devi for Silver medal win at the CWG 2022
India now has four medals after Bindyarani Devi’s remarkable victory in the women’s 55 kg weightlifting event at the Commonwealth Games 2022. When she failed in her second 114-kg clean and jerk attempt, she appeared to be on track for a bronze. She did, however, attempt 116 kg with her final lift and managed to land in second place, finishing with just 1 kg less than Nigeria’s Adijat Olarinoye, who won the gold medal.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Bindyarani Devi’s remarkable Silver win in the ongoing Commonwealth Games, Birmingham 2022.
“Congratulations to Bindyarani Devi for winning a Silver medal at CWG, Birmingham. This accomplishment is a manifestation of her tenacity and it has made every Indian very happy. I wish her the very best for her future endeavours.” tweeted PM Modi.
