IND vs WI: Match Review for the 3rd ODI

India once again played notably well and have performed as a better side in the 3 match ODI clash against the Windies.

Already clinching the hands on the cup, India went on to finish off the series by a whitwash win, giving team India a historical victory and that too under the captaincy of Shikhar Dhawan.

More significantly it was Rahul Dravid who was once again a part of a major win and a historic one too.

After deciding to bat, India played effectively, with the opening pair of Dhawan and Gill scoring 113 runs for the first wicket. It didn’t get off to a fast start against the new ball, but Gill, who had been wary after missing two chances earlier in the series, gradually gained greater self-assurance. Dhawan (58 off 74), who chose fast runs at the other end and gave him time to get his bearings, provided the ideal company for him. The game had been reduced to 40 overs each side after the first rain delay. India had only 16 overs left to bat when play restarted, which was evident in the way Gill and Shreyas Iyer were batting at the time

In his first over with the ball, Mohammed Siraj established the tone by dismissing Kyle Mayers and Shamarh Brooks. The right-handed Brooks was sent straight in front, while the left-handed Mayers was bowled through the gate in a magnificent performance of seam bowling. Despite appearing to be in terrific form during their 47-run stand, Shai Hope and Brandon King were unable to successfully overcome India’s spin tangles. Hope was bewildered by Yuzvendra Chahal’s erratic delivery, while Axar Patel’s arm-ball dismissed King.

Nicholas Pooran led team West Indies lost the third game, owing the first ever whitewash of team India against the West Indies
