CWG: “I dedicate my medal to my wife,” says bronze medal winner Gururaja Poojray
The nation will be proud as the evening is enlightened by weightlifter Gururaja Poojray after he clinched the bronze medal for India in the Men’s 61kg weight category with a total of 269kg. Poojary successfully performed a combined lift of 269 kg (118 kg in the snatch and 151 kg in the clean and jerk). Poojary added to India’s impressive performance in CWG weightlifting competitions, bringing the country’s total number of medals won to 127. This came shortly after teammate weightlifter Sanket Mahadev Sargar, who won a silver, started India’s medal count at the CWG 2022.
Gururaja Poojray stated that he dedicated his bronze medal to his wife and feels it to be ‘dream come true’ moment.

“I dedicate my medal to my wife & thank all my supporters. I can’t describe it in words. The Tricolour was flying high, it was my dream,” said weightlifter Gururaja Poojary.
