Chief Justice of Bombay HC Dipankar Datta recuses himself from hearing the PIL
Bombay High Court Chief Justice has recused himself from hearing the PIL challenging the appointment of IPS officer Subodh Kumar as the Director of the CBI. Invoking a letter of complaint sent by the petitioner Rajendrakumar Trivedi to the Chief Justice of India, the CJ withdrew from the case.
The retired assistant police commissioner Trivedi, however, denied making any complaints. In fact, Trivedi’s attorney Satish Talekar stated that his client would submit an affidavit and that it’s likely that someone impersonated him.
“A letter has been written to the Chief Justice of India against me by your client. Because some complaint is made, it must not be appropriate for me to hear the matter,” the CJ Dipankar Datta told.
