In 1Q21 18% up on-year , Global broadband access equipment revenue reaches $3.3 billion in 1Q21-Report

The global revenue for the Broadband Access equipment market increased 18% on-year to reach $3.3 billion in 1Q21, driven by spending on PON OLT ports, particularly 10Gbps PON technologies, according to a report by Dell’Oro Group a global research firm.

“The shift to 10 Gbps PON technologies is happening quickly and on a global basis,” stated Jeff Heynen, Vice President, Broadband Access and Home Networking at Dell’Oro Group.

“The only thing preventing further expansions are supply chain constraints and increased costs,” underscored by Heynen. The broadband access equipment revenue, however, decreased 6% sequentially from the record revenue of 4Q20, stated. At the same time, total cable access concentrator revenue raised upto15% on-year to $243 million.

“Though DOCSIS license purchases were down, new hardware purchases in the form of CCAP chassis, line cards, and DAA nodes and modules helped push revenue higher,” stated in report.
Total DSL Access Concentrator revenue was low 30% on-year, driven by slower port shipments worldwide as more operators move their expendings to fiber. Total PON ONT revenue was down on-quarter, but unit shipments were constant above 30 million globally for the second straight quarter, it stated.
