India bans BGMI two years after removing PUBG Mobile

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) was removed from the Google Play store and App Store, nearly two years after PUBG Mobile was banned in the country. An Indian government source told Reuters on Friday that India’s authorities stopped access to Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), a well-known battle-royale type game from the South Korean game production company Krafton, because of concern for data sharing and mining in China.  After PUBG Mobile being prohibited in the nation for over two years, BGMI  has now been blocked.

Section 69A of India’s IT Act allows the government to block public access to content in the interest of national security, among other reasons. Orders issued under the section are generally confidential in nature.
