Vi Business Plans to Expand Cloud Services in the Combined IoT Space
Debt-ridden telecommunications group Vodafone Idea has announced its entry into the Integrated Internet of Things (IoT) for companies as they seek to turn themselves into a technology business from a conventional networking services provider.
On Thursday Abhijit Kishore, Vi Business Chief Enterprise Officer, said the firm would also look at the provision of cloud services.
There are “three specific fields that we are wanting to get into. One obviously IoT and integrated space. Second one is on collaboration which includes a host of SaaS (software as a service) and third one will be cloud services. From being a traditional connectivity player, we will be connectivity plus collaboration plus IoT and integrated IoT and a cloud platform”, Kishore said during a virtual conference.
The enterprise has introduced IoT systems that can monitor the performance of devices and remotely operate them. Vi Business reported that an intelligent metering solution has already been implemented for one of its power distributors, who gather metre readings remotely and also tell clients to purchase cheaper power according to usage and load patterns.
Kishore said the company plans a massive expansion in the coming days of advanced IoT solutions.
A day after Bharti Airtel launched Airtel IoT, an end-to-end network that connects and manages billions of devices and apps, the announcement comes from Vodafone Idea.
Kishore said Vi Business’ IoT solutions vary from those of competition.
He said that Vi Company is a major player in the field of automotive technology and has 85% to 90% of the affiliated automotive business.
“All the major automotive industry manufacturer – Tata Motors, Kia, Hyundai, Daimler etc, we are working with them,” Kishore said.
