“They are defaming our client for solely being political leader’s daughter,” claims Smriti Irani’s daughter’s lawyer Nagra in the illegal bar case
On Saturday, the Congress requested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi fire Union Minister Smriti Irani over allegations that her daughter was operating a “illegal bar” in Goa. Smriti Irani, however, denied the allegations.
The Congress allegedly accused Union Minister Smriti Irani and her daughter in a “malicious” act, stating that Irani’s daughter runs an illegal bar in Goa and to which Smriti Irani dared Rahul Gandhi and replied that her daughter is being targeted only because Irani herself speaks against Rahul and Sonia Gandhi at the press conferences.
The lawyer daughter of Irani, stated in a statement that his client is not the proprietor or manager of the restaurant known as Silly Souls Goa and has not, as claimed, received any show-cause notice from any authority. Lawyer Nagra said various “erroneous, frivolous, malicious and defamatory social media posts being made by various vested quarters trying to settle political scores with our client’s mother, the renowned politician Smriti Irani each of which are predicated on blatant falsities”.
Nagra considered the charges as ‘baseless’ and said, “It is unfortunate that they have resorted to spreading a false propaganda only to sensationalize a non issue without ascertaining true facts and with a predetermined objective of defaming Our Client for solely being the daughter of a political leader.”
