The DoT Platform Now Supports Individuals in Finding all Mobile Numbers and Eliminating Illegal SIMs

The number of telephone numbers operating under any individual’s name is now easy to figure out. The Telecommunications Department has opened a portal, tafcop.dgtelecom.gov.in, for users using a telephone number on their name without information.

In order to help people rid themselves of numbers which they do not use, the department has developed an online service that has stepped up, said Robert Ray, DoT‘s Deputy Director-General for AP Zone, to address the increased cases of illicit use by others of their data for mobile SIM cards and misuse for illicit or criminal reasons.

The platform helps to describe in their name the number of smartphone contacts. People may ask for the numbers given in their name to be blocked, but not necessarily used by them.

The official stated that there are only nine mobile connections which can be given to anybody. In some users’ names, however, over nine cell connections operate. The portal would simplify customer process for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana’s licenced service area, he added.

The service will be progressively extended to other circles. The use of all active numbers and OTP on the portal enables users to search.

The Ministry alerts customers to the amount of mobile contacts that operate on their behalf by means of SMS. Consumers may go to the portal and list the numbers no longer used or not used by them. The telecommunications service providers block or disable the numbers, until the action is taken by the customer. Consumers will get ticket IDs to monitor the progress of the action they are looking to take, he said.
