Telecom Department expected to release production incentive guidance within a week
According to government officials, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) will likely release instructions on the application of productive incentives (PLI) to producers in the industry and create applications in around a week.
Telecom machinery manufacturing companies such as Ericsson and Nokia want to extend their activities in India, and international companies such as Samsung, Cisco, Ciena, and Foxconn “show interest” in creating domestic and export telecom manufacturing bases for the country and networking devices.
“Telecom PLI has already been approved by the government. The DoT is ready with guidelines to implement it, application format, incentive allocation, etc. It should be published on the DoT website within a week,” the official, who did not wish to be named, told PTI.
On February 24, 2021, the DoT notified the PLI system of a financial expense of 12,195 crores over five years for telecoms and networked goods. The Indian telecom equipment development scheme, which is to be required by approximately 40,000 people to promote equipment production worth approximately 2.44 lakhs and build direct and indirect jobs.
The investor will generate incentives for up to 20 times higher revenue so that they can grow worldwide and make use of their idle resources and boost productivity. The plan is estimated to produce an investment of over Rs.3,000 Crore and a tax return of over Rs.17,000 Crore.
