Samsung – going through a tough time

Samsung  had a downfall recently in the market. Xiaomi was the reason for the same. It has been relegated to number 3 spot for the first time. But Samsung is refusing to accept the defeat. The company said that it continued to lead the segment by end sales.
The Giants in this sector like Google, Apple, Nokia has made even tougher for Samsung to grab the top spot in the market .Sector Watchers have made an assumption that soon these all companies will be giving a huge discount on their upcoming products in order to gain more and more people in the market.
Tarun Pathak, the senior analyst shared with media that Samsung share dropped to 31% from 55% in the previous quarter as premium segment (above Rs 30,000) was driven more by Rs 30,000-40,000 band due to One Plus and older iPhone models, due to which majority of the volume of the segment was skewed towards Rs 30,000-40,000 sub segment where Samsung is not that strong.
The list has Apple at the top with 35% of its share in July-September. IPhone 8 launched by the company was responsible for the same. Thereafter One Plus is at the 2nd position with 32% share backed by the sales of one plus 5. The information was provided by the Hong Kong based firm.
It would be problematic for Samsung to get its position back in the market because its competitors like Xiaomi and One Plus, is quite large in premium segment, said Pathak.
Samsung on the other hand countered all the Accusation by saying that the share of phones sold by the company was highest among competition. The company’s share was 65.2% and 65.4% by value. Asim Warsi, Samsung India’s senior vice president for mobile business said that the company is citing data from German Research firm Gfk. This will help tracking sales to end- consumers.
