Mavenir introduces 5G Hyperconverged Edge AI Solution for Enterprise & Telco Market Based on NVIDIA Platforms

A well-functioning telecommunications network is the foundation of an information society. The telecom industry pervades every aspect of a country’s economic, cultural, and personal lives, and it is one of the world’s most powerful forces of economic development and human equality. Mavenir is one such leading telecom company that believes in creating the networks of the future with cloud-native software that runs on any cloud and changes the way the world interacts.

Mavenir announced the introduction of an AI-on-5G Hyper-Converged Edge solution in partnership with NVIDIA. They have created one-of-a-kind solution based on NVIDIA’s hardware and software technologies, allowing Enterprises and Telcos to deploy AI-on-5G applications for a variety of promising verticals, including Manufacturing, Mining, and Healthcare, that cover Industry 4.0 applications, such as Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA), Extended Reality (XR), and Gaming.

Remote and interactive communication, precision robotics monitoring, people protection, intrusion detection, smart connected factories, real-time manufacturing component fault detection, and proactive maintenance using sensor data analytics in near real-time are some of the use cases.

CSPs can use Mavenir’s Edge AI solution to improve their Mobile Edge Cloud portfolio by delivering differentiated services to their business customers and network service consumers, including enhanced revenue-generating services like gaming. This fully automated, dynamically scalable approach is also available as a managed service for companies looking to deploy private networks.

Kuntal Chowdhury, SVP & GM for the AI & Analytics Business Unit at Mavenir says, “ Mavenir is running its market-leading 5G stack on commercial off-the-shelf servers with GPUs, DPUs and associated software modules from NVIDIA and enhancing the solution by integrating Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms running on the same hardware and platform. This unique hyper-convergence between the 5G stack and AI applications is the enabler of the key promises of Industry 4.0 and 5G.”

He further added. “For Industry 4.0 and 5G, an innovative edge solution is required to process data in near real-time and support wide carrier bandwidths to provide high data rate and low latency while maintaining low power consumption and overall cost-effectiveness.”

Wireless sensors, equipment, robots, and people will flexibly work on the same infrastructure thanks to 5G’s architecture for smart wired factories and farms, towns, and logistics operations. It meets the speed, latency, and quality-of-service requirements of mission-critical applications while obviating the need for rigid and costly local area networks (LANs) and indeterministic Wi-Fi performance. Mavenir’s Edge AI approach enables businesses to benefit from the convergence of 5G and AI by providing business vertical use-cases.

Ronnie Vasishta, senior vice president of Telecoms at NVIDIA said, “Working with Mavenir, the power of AI-on-5G will soon become apparent across multiple industries.”

He further commented. “The security and low latency of 5G, combined with the computing power of AI is set to transform whole industries and increase productivity around the world.”

PTP data processing units and NVIDIA’s highly scalable, power-optimized general-purpose graphics processing units (GPUs) with a high-level coding platform using NVIDIA CUDA are included in the solution (DPUs). This allows for efficient offloading of all compute-intensive computing applications from the CPU to all in-line processing in GPUs and DPUs, making programming and updating simpler while lowering maintenance costs and energy consumption.
