Government does not extend the ITR filing dates; Only one day left for the deadline
The Assessment Year 2022–23 ITR due date is approaching in just one day (FY 2021-22). Although many taxpayers and people have urged the government to extend the deadline, it is anticipated that there won’t be any extensions this year. The Income Tax Department reports that as of 8 p.m. yesterday, about 5 crore ITRs have been filed. Yesterday, more than 44 lakh ITRs were submitted. Please act quickly to file the ITR if you haven’t already before the deadline expires.
During the COVID-19 the Income Tax went lenient with the taxpayers due to the pandemic and the outbreak which caused a lot of fuss in the past two years.
Surprisingly this year, the Income Tax Department and the decision makers of the above stated are in no mood of extending the dates and further believe that people are being used to deferred filings and thus urge the taxpayers to file their returns by the deadline which is July 31.
“Dear taxpayers, Do remember to file your ITR if you haven’t filed yet. The due date to file ITR for AY 2022-23 is 31st July, 2022,” the Income Tax Department tweeted.
