Gigabyte to now support 13th Gen Raptor Lake CPUs

The next 13th Gen Raptor Lake CPUs from Intel will have complete support added to the motherboard BIOS, according to Gigabyte. The updates are for its line of motherboards, including the Z690, B660, and H610. Gigabyte says the revisions improve compatibility for “next generation Intel CPUs” in more detail. But everyone is aware of what Gigabyte is referring to.

The announcement or release of 13th Gen BIOS support by Gigabyte follows those by ASRock(opens in new tab), Asus, and MSI. Even though Intel has not yet provided a launch date, this is the most recent indication that the introduction of 13th Gen CPUs is not far off.

Better stability and performance will be delivered in the coming weeks thanks to additional optimizations and fine tuning. The announcements of updates thus far in advance are mostly made for marketing purposes.

As the 13th Gen launch approaches, our understanding of what to anticipate is greatly improving. A Chinese user just submitted a large number of gaming benchmark results comparing the 13900K and a 12900KF (opens in new tab). The results weren’t really outstanding, and the power usage figures seemed rather high. Poor BIOS optimization may be the cause, which is not surprising considering the short time left before the launch.
