From ‘Search by Date’ to ‘Multi-Device Support’: WhatsApp testing new features to make the messaging experience better

One of the most popular instant messaging apps – WhatsApp – boasts of having over 2 billion users globally. It regularly comes up with new features and updates to make the messaging experience better for its users.

As per WABetaInfo’s latest report, Whatsapp is working on a new feature in order to make the message search easier on its chat platform. The company is likely to permit users to search messages by date soon. Sources said the ‘search by date’ feature is currently at the alpha stage of development. The images shared by the tipsters show that when this feature will go live in the future, the users will see a calendar icon that will enable the users to select the desired date.

It is to be noted that the messaging platform already offers an in-chat search feature. According to experts, the new feature could be helpful for those who regularly use the messaging platform at their workplaces. Also, the platform has started testing a bunch of new storage tools and the multi-device support feature, as per the report. A multi-device support feature would enable the users to switch from one device to another very easily.

Earlier in April, the world’s largest instant messaging app narrowed down the limit of frequently forwarded messages to one chat at a time in order to limit the circulation of fake news and misinformation amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
