Phone organizations have abandoned rumours spreading in social media portals about 5G spectrum trials increasing the spread of Covid19, narrating them as “absolutely untrue,” and calling on users to disregard such useless information.

P Kochhar, director general of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) stated in a media statement on Friday that , “We would like to clarify that these rumours are absolutely false…we urge people not to fall for such baseless misinformation,” .
The COAI’s adamant views came after the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) earlier this week absolved the delayed 5G trials, permitting Airtel, Jio and Vi’s applications that seek to partner the non-Chinese gear vendors to task on building use cases relevant for India on the new generation rapid wireless broadband technology. Trials will be for six months in the initial stage. Telcos are given probing airwaves in the middle band (3.2-3.67 Ghz), 800 Mhz, millimetre wave (26-28 Ghz) and the 700 Mhz bands for the trials.
Kochhar said several nations have already figured out 5G networks and users are using these services effortlessly, and that the World Health Organization (WHO) had clarified “no correlation” between 5G technology and Covid19 disease. He also said that
they shared the issues with DoT and have notified them about the scenario. He additionally added that India hasn’t seen any 5g trials yet nor are there any 5g towers.
The WHO had earlier analyzed that viruses cannot travel via radio waves / mobile networks, and that no serious or damaging health effect has been linked to wireless technologies.
