At the recently held, Convergence India 2018, the gathereing was served a Chai to match their mood and taste, all thanks to HiArya, the first robotic chai maker. Mr. Akash Takyar, Founder & CEO, HiArya Automation Pvt Ltd. in an exclusive talks with Beenish, Editor, WhiteNote, shared the technology and roadmap for this made in India product.
In the times of Coffee shop and modern Chai Retail counters, what difference Arya is bringing to the consumers?
Coffee shop and Chai retail counters make chai by adding ingredients based on estimates but not precision. Making a cup of Chai is an art. Chai can taste perfect if the ingredients mixing order, timing and quantity are measured exactly, how it is intended. However, it is very difficult for a human to customize the recipe for each individual. Arya can make a perfect cup of boiled chai which gives same flavor every single time. Consumers can now enjoy the same taste anytime and everytime.
What is so unique about HiArya?
Tea is one of the most important drinks, and having a good cup of tea can make your day. Our mission is to make it possible for every person to get their favourite cup of tea at home, office, hotels, and malls. Advanced smart home technology allowed us to simplify the process of making a perfect cup of tea.
One can talk to Arya by simply saying, “HiArya, make me my favourite tea.” and your custom tea is ready. For tea lovers, the options are plentiful. Get creative with the many flavours of tea by modifying your recipe from your phone. It can make tea using ingredients like adarak (ginger), elaichi (cardamom), saunf (fennel), dalchini (cinnamon), chai masala, long (cloves), kahwa, milk, sugar and water. Arya is programmed to remember your perfect tea recipe.
What is the technology behind HiArya?
HiArya is an Internet of Things (IoT) enabled smart device that works with several cloud micro-services hosted on amazon cloud. This robotic chai maker uses combination of Google Assistant, Amazon Lex and Core IoT services to interact with a user. Arya has inbuilt camera, microphone, speakers to interact with a user. Arya also recognises a user when a user stands infront of Arya using computer vision. HiArya is built using custom designed electronics that patented technology to make a perfect cup of Chai.
To summarise, HiArya is the next generation smart home product, integrated with Google Assistant, video streaming and natural language processing.
What are the target market segments for HiArya?
HiArya’s target audience is people working in corporates who crave for a perfect cup of chai and they compromise by either going to the street vendor or take alternatives like Dip Dip Chai. This robotic Chai maker is currently being installed in corporates.
What is the power consumption for operating HiArya? Can it be run on inverters?
HiArya needs power outlet to be able to run the boilers, however rest of the HiArya mechanism can work on battery backup.
Are you targeting Shopping Malls, or public places like metro stations where people need a cup of Tea while waiting for the Metro?
HiArya is a personal tea making robot for those who really value their tea brewing experience. It was launched at the IoT 2018 expo, during the 26th Convergence India.
To begin with, we are launching HiArya’s autonomous kiosks at shopping malls, airports and public places. People can get the same flavor of chai anywhere, anytime.
How much is the machine charged?
Rather than the machine cost, what matters most is the cost of chai served. Each cup of chai made by HiArya will cost Rs.15 to a corporate.
