Instagram expands its shopping tool to IGTV: Here’s what we know so far
Social media platform Instagram has announced to expand its shopping tool to IGTV. The new update by the photo-sharing app is available for all Instagram users worldwide, enabling them to watch IGTV videos and check out products featured in them.
The Facebook-owned photo-sharing platform announced the launch of IGTV shopping on Twitter via its official handle.
The new update is almost similar to how shopping on the app works. Instagram allows businesses, creators tag products in their images and list them with the price as well as the description. Now, the same can be done for IGTV videos too.
Tagged items can now be highlighted in IGTV videos which Insta users can click and open up to learn more. The product page will also have the website’s link making it easier for people to purchase the product.

According to reports, the app also has its payment feature for shopping called “Checkout”, allowing customers to pay for items within Instagram itself.
According to experts, this is part of Facebook’s major e-commerce push. The latest changes have been made to appeal to both brands and influencers who want more ways to monetize their base on the app.
Earlier this year, Instagram also redesigned its specific shopping section Instagram Shop, adding support for Facebook.
