Google Cloud to help firms adopt digital models, says Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian

As the world’s economy is recovering slowly from the COVID-19 pandemic, Google Cloud witnesses firms shifting to digital models in order to reach out to their customers, for delivery of products and services, and even for designing and manufacturing operations, Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said.

These changes have driven many enterprises to upgrade their tech-infrastructure using the cloud to prepare themselves for the future, Kurian added.

“Our mission at Google Cloud is to accelerate our customers’ ability to digitally transform and reimagine their businesses through data-powered innovation,” Kurian said while kicking off the first ‘Google Next ’20: OnAir’ digital event series.

According to him, Google Cloud offers three primary capabilities i.e. global-scale distributed IaaS (Infrastructure as a service), an online transformation platform, and industry-specific solutions powered by machine learning advances and AI of Google.

“We continue to see organizations across various industries place their trust in Google Cloud because of the differentiated technology we provide to help them solve real business problems,” he said.

Kurian said that the company is expanding its global footprint, with plans for many more. Google Cloud also launched ‘BigQuery Omni’ – a new multi-cloud analytics solution in order to provide customers to gain critical insights in a unified manner.

The tech giant also announced ‘Assured Workloads for Government’ in order to ensure that government agencies and their contractors can ensure that all data stays in its US region. This mechanism offers access to Google’s full suite of cloud services, together with high-end features to ensure that the government’s security standards are met.

On 5G, Google Cloud CEO said that the Global Mobile Edge Cloud strategy would provide a portfolio as well as a marketplace of 5G solutions built together with telecom companies.
