RCom gears up for 4G expansion
Reliance Communications (RCom) has initiated the migration process of its CDMA mobile and data card subscribers to a fourth-generation (4G) network over the 800 Mhz band, says a report published in the Economic Times.
The move will enable Anil Ambani controlled telco to swiftly expand its 4G operations in the country.
DoT has already given its nod to RCom to use 800 MHz band airwaves across 9 telecom circles for 4G rollout.
These telecom circles include UP East, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, West Bengal, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Mumbai and the North East.
Despite the agreement with Reliance Jio for infrastructure sharing, there is no certainty that RCom customers will be able to leverage Jio’s 4G network as the SIM cards provided by RCom are not registered with the Jio’s high-speed data network.
