Questioning Sonia Gandhi is “a new low in vendetta politics,” claims Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal

Kapil Sibal, a member of the Rajya Sabha, declared today that Sonia Gandhi being called in for questioning by the Enforcement Directorate is “a new low in vendetta politics.”
He added that all investigative agencies are now seen as the government’s long arms, used to persecute officials and damage their reputations.

Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) yesterday for more than two hours about a money laundering case involving the National Herald newspape

“By the ED summoning Sonia Gandhi for interrogation vendetta politics has reached a new low,” said Mr Sibal, a former Congress leader.

With nationwide public protests and party leaders threatening to be arrested, the day was a demonstration of the party’s power.

“All investigating agencies are now perceived as long arms of the government to harass leaders and tarnish reputations,” Sibal said.
