Facebook-owned WhatsApp application has filed a case in Delhi High Court against Indian government, wanting to debar the new IT regulations that come into effect. The new orders require major social media intermediaries like WhatsApp to track the centre of particular texts sent .
The WhatsApp vs Government of India case was filed on 25May , that was Tuesday.
The company said that , WhatsApp has time and again joined civil society and experts around the world in correcting needs that would hamper the privacy of customers. It additionally said that , In the meantime, we will also engage with Government of India on solutions that are focused at keeping people safe.
India has recorded five million registered people as the basis for defining a huge social media intermediary. It has redirected the appointment of a grievance officer, nodal and chief compliance officer contact person to publish details of these executives on their website.
The new orders also mandate that they could track the originator of texts, with a provision for individual verification as a means to make an user identity.
