Synchronized efforts required to develop the right 5G ecosystem in India: Xiaomi’s Manu Jain

Xiaomi India head, Manu Jain said that 5G can play the role of change maker in India’s journey towards Atmanirbhar Bharat in manufacturing and being the export hub of the world. 5G, he said, will play a pivotal role in India’s digital journey and an amalgamated effort between government and private sector can lead to the creation of the right ecosystem for its implementation.

“Continuous investments and commitment towards R & D, new partnerships will promote a culture of
innovation that will benefit all,” said Jain, who is also the Global Vice President of Xiaomi, in his keynote
speech at ET Telecom’s 5G Congress 2022 recently.

Jain said that 5G in India can also help initiatives like smart city projects by fast tracking adoption of
smart applications, rising internet penetration and enhanced connectivity and coverage. “In a smart city
of the future, 5G can ease the management of basic services like traffic management, parking, waste
management and much more”.

All these factors in turn will not only contribute towards India's economic growth but will aid India’s position in Global Innovation Index, Ease of Doing Business ranking and offer ‘digital dividend’ that surpasses any other nation in the world.

Jain said that the scheme for design-led manufacturing to build a strong ecosystem for 5G will further
boost local innovation in the domain. Xiaomi, India’s top smartphone brand, is working towards “democratizing technology to strengthen India’s digital journey and growth,” he said.
