With an eye into future, Cisco is swapping gear installed by Chinese vendors in Indian telecom networks

Cisco, the networking major is overtaking the Chinese market in telecom gear installations and added its relevance will increase manifold with the induction of 5G.
The company added that its strength in the enterprise domain allows it to be in a better position to help telecom operators to develop Telco’s-led enterprise use cases, said Sanjay Kaul, the APJ President on Service Provider Business in an exclusive interaction. He also added that India needs alternatives to China. “We are already manufacturing in Mexico and Malaysia, so we want to broaden our horizon”, he was heard quoting.

Cisco is currently collaborating with Bharti Airtel in exploring enterprise use cases. It is also betting big on private 5G network opportunities in India. Cisco recently received the trusted sources approval from the National Cyber Security Coordinator (NCSC). “We help telecoms in building network, digitize their operations and work with enterprise customers to help grow revenue.

Right now we are in the testing phase, but we will make announcements in the right time. All we can say
now is that we have moved on to the next level with Airtel”, said Anand Bhaskar, Managing Director, Cisco India and SAARC. He also added that the company has started to receive “trusted products” from the designated
authority, NCSC.
