VIA Adds Support for Windows 10 IoT Core

VIA Technologies has added support for Windows 10 IoT core on its highly-integrated VIA VAB-820 edge computing platform powered by NXP i.MX 6Quad series processors. Windows 10 IoT Core is a version of Windows 10 optimized for use in small form factor embedded systems and intelligent devices.

VIA VAB-820 will facilitate deployment of intelligent devices within the Microsoft Azure for IoT ecosystem.

A key advantage of this version of the Windows operating system is that applications developed on the Windows 10 IoT core will run the same way on any other Windows 10 device. Other advantages include fast time-to-market, intelligent security, rapid development times due to the familiar Universal Windows Platform (UWP) interface, and support for Microsoft Azure for IoT.
“VIA is committed to adding support for Windows 10 IoT core to our edge computing platforms,” commented Richard Brown, Vice-President of International Marketing, VIA Technologies, Inc. “These highly-integrated solutions will enable our customers to accelerate deployments that leverage the interoperability, scalability, and security of the Microsoft Azure for IoT ecosystem.”
The VIA VAB-820 edge computing platform provides the perfect blend of high performance and low power consumption to meet the high-end demands of advanced industrial automation, energy management, and in-vehicle IoT applications.
The VIA VAB-820 is Microsoft Azure Certified for IoT. Linux and Android BSPs are also available.
