ITI Ltd ties up with Tech Mahindra to develop 4G, 5G solutions

Public sector ITI Limited has recently tied up with IT services company Tech Mahindra in order to work jointly in the areas of 4G and 5G networks, smart cities, and health care services, to supplement India’s call for self-reliance in the telecommunications sector.

Under this collaboration, both giants would together create ‘Make in India’ stack for the upcoming 4G and 5G opportunities, as part of the MoU, in India.

ITI, with over 70 years of experience in manufacturing, would produce the 4G tech upgradable to 5G Radio Access Network and related equipment in line with the Indian government’s call for ‘Self-Reliant India.’

Whereas, Tech Mahindra will provide the software IPs, implementation, and integration of services, operations, and maintenance services.

“This partnership intends to jointly build a framework that will provide solutions of the upcoming wireless technologies to different telecom service providers in the country and also address business opportunities globally,” said ITI in a statement.

The partnership would help to reduce dependency on other countries for the import of telecom equipment and address the concerns in building a strategic network for defense communication, ITI Ltd’s MD added.

It may be mentioned here that Indian corporate firms are quite vocal nowadays about reducing their dependence on China and replace it with domestic alternatives. The tensions between India and China are running high after 20 Indian
