“I strongly condemn Friday’s attack at the Kabul International Cricket Stadium,” states Secretary-General of UN

At the Kabul International Stadium on Friday, a bomb blast shook Afghanistan’s Shpageeza Cricket League (July 29).

No casualties were discovered following the event, which occurred during the 22nd league game of the competition between Pamir Zalmi and the Band-e-Amir Dragons.

The game was resumed after four injured spectators were transported to the hospital and given the all-clear by law enforcement. According to a representative of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, Kabul police took control of the situation after they arrived and after about an hour gave them permission to continue the game that was being played using the DLS system.

Secretary General of United Nations António Guterres stated that he along with UN ‘condemned’ Friday’s attack at the Kabul International Stadium.

“I strongly condemn Friday’s attack at the Kabul International Cricket Stadium, which claimed the lives of at least 19 civilians & caused additional casualties. Attacks against civilians and civilian objects are strictly prohibited under international humanitarian law,” tweeted António Guterres.
