Local users to get quicker date access, can pay in rupees
This Wednesday, Google announced the opening of its very first Google Cloud Platform region in Mumbai.
The Internet major heads said that the Platform will now offer services like computing big data, data storage and networking. Now the prominent enterprises will be able to take full advantage of the high speeds, low latency (allows unnoticeable human delays) and performance benefits uniquely offered by Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services. Additionally, the Indian customers will now be able to buy these services and perform transactions in rupees.
“We are delighted to announce the first GCP region in India,” said Google Cloud Platform Manager, Dave Stiver in a statement. The company approved that the new region will help full utilization of human resource. The customers will now be able to build applications and store their data, and significantly improve the latency for consumers.
In the past, the closest region, Singapore was the service provider. It is believed that hosting applications in the new region can improve latency from 20-90% as the distance covered by the data would be efficiently reduced. The region benefitted states would be Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.
New Opportunities
The company said that with the disclosure of the cloud region with three zones will provide additional new opportunities for the users if they build their services on Google cloud and hence receive benefits.
This new region in Mumbai joins Singapore, Taiwan, Sydney and Tokyo in Asia Pacific, according to the statement.
