Facebook is one of the most preferred social networking websites and there’s some good news for all its users. As per reports, the social media giant is all set to develop a facial recognition feature for the purpose of account log-in as well as verification.
Here’s what TechCrunch was told by Facebook on Friday,
“We are testing a new feature for people who want to quickly and easily verify account ownership during the account recovery process. This optional feature is available only on devices you’ve already used to log in. It is another step that we’re taking to make sure account owners can confirm their identity.”
Many methods are employed by Facebook for assisting users in regaining access to their locked accounts. In few cases, a user is asked for identifying friends’ pictures and choosing some “trusted friends” whom Facebook sends a code. They need to tell that code for unlocking the account of the concerned user.
The report further suggested that Facebook might launch a video chat device as well for identifying the faces of users. However, users are concerned about their privacy and being spied over by social network if the device is rolled out. They are doubtful whether the device will have essential security features at the time of launch or not and their concern is completely valid. The device has been codenamed Project Aloha and Facebook will release it in May 2018.
